Cheyenne Haynes, Haley Tju cast as Frog sisters in CW’s The Lost Boys
According to Deadline, Cheyenne Haynes (Camping) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) have officially landed the roles of the Frog Sisters in The CW’s upcoming series adaptation The Lost Boys, based on Joel Schumacher ‘s 1987 horror comedy of the same name.
In addition, Golden Globe-nominated actress Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bones) has also been cast as a series regular starring alongside Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Kiele Sanchez (Kingdom), Medalion Rahimi (Before I Fall) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom).
In the film, the fan favorite siblings were originally portrayed by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander as The Frog Brothers Edgar and Allan, whom are responsible for teaching Sam on how defeat the town’s vampires. However, the network decided to go on a different route for the series and gender-swapped the roles for The Frog Sisters, Liza and Cassie, who will be played by Haynes and Tju, respectively.
Their official character description reads: “Sharp, cool and lightly Goth, the Frog Sisters are teenage locals who work at Santa Carla’s comic-book store. Until Sam arrives, they think they’re the only ones aware of the darkness in this town.”
Meanwhile, Hay is set to play the role of vampire Mollie. Even though she was turned by David, she will be the one to challenge him for the vampire gang’s leadership role. Mollie is currently the only character that didn’t exist in original film.
Set in sunny seaside Santa Carla, The Lost Boys will follow the story of brothers Michael and Sam Emerson as they moved to Santa Carla with their mother Lucy after the unfortunate death of their father. However, things go wrong when the brothers soon find themselves being drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead…
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will direct the pilot. Written by Heather Mitchell (Scandal), the adaptation will follow the lead of the 1987 movie and focus on two brothers who find themselves engulfed in vampire mayhem. Posey, Sanchez, Rahimi and Shapiro are set to portray the roles of Michael, Lucy, Stella and David, respectively.
The Lost Boys series will be executive produced by Rob Thomas through his Spondoolie Productions. Other executive producers include Dan Etheridge, Rebecca Franko and Danielle Stokdyk as well as Gulfstream Television’s Bill Bindley and Mike Karz.
