American Horror Story Co-Creator Says the Witches Will Return

American Horror Story co-creator says the witches from Coven will return

While every season of American Horror Story has ways to loosely connect it others, the most recent eighth season, American Horror Story: Apocalypse, was a direct crossover between the events in season one’s Murder House and season three’s Coven. It’s not over thought as the beloved witches from Miss Robichaux’s Academy will show up once again. Just not for the show’s upcoming ninth season, as Murphy explained to Entertainment Tonight.

The witches will be back. Not next season, though, but we have something really fun planned,” Murphy said.

Most of the regular American Horror Story cast members returned for the show’s eighth season, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Lily Rabe, Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy and Stevie Nicks; as well as franchise newcomers Joan Collins and Cody Fern.

According to Murphy, most of the usual suspects will return for the show’s ninth season, which he already has mapped out. He’s just not saying what it’s about yet. “I can’t say what it is! I’m going to this luncheon, and many of the Horror Story actors are there, and I’m gonna tell them for the first time, so I have to tell them first,” said Murphy

The Emmy, Golden Globe and AFI Award-winning series from co-creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk aired its seventh season on FX last year. The sixth installment, Roanoke, recently received four Emmy Award nominations in the hairstyling, makeup and sound editing categories. The American Horror Story franchise has received 28 Emmy nominations and four wins over its previous six seasons. It is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television. American Horror Story was renewed for two more seasons back in the fall of 2018, carrying it through to season 10.
