Comedy Pilot Peacock Lands Dominic Cooper to Produce and Star

Peacock lands Dominic Cooper

Actor Dominic Cooper (Preacher, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again) will produce and star in Peacock, an upcoming comedy pilot set to air on British pay-TV service Sky One, per a report from Deadline. Cooper will play Andy Peacock, a physical training instructor in a gym whose members are all obsessed with taking selfies and posting to Instagram. This marks Cooper’s return to British TV, having previously starred in the Sky Atlantic drama Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond.

The pilot is written and directed by Steve Stamp and Ben Murray, part of the team that made the BBC Three mockumentary People Just Do Nothing. Big Talk Productions, the company behind Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver, is producing, with Big Talk CEO Kenton Allen will be overseeing as an executive producer alongside Saurabh Kakkar.

It will be another addition to Sky One’s increasingly broad lineup of comedies. This includes series such as Romesh Ranganathan’s The Reluctant Landlord, Karl Pilkington’s Sick of It and Jack Whitehall’s Bounty Hunters.
