The Venture Bros. Season 7 Episode 5 Recap

We’ve reached the middle of The Venture Bros. season 7, and things have once again taken a turn for the weird. In the last episode, Dean went off to college and he may have started a love triangle with Sirena, his brother’s significant other. In The Venture Bros. season 7 episode 5, the entire family returned to the burned down ruins of the old Venture compound. Rusty was called upon to oversee the new Treaty of Tolerance Summit on behalf of OSI and the Guild of Calamitous Intent. Rusty’s father, Jonas Venture, Sr., did the same thing years before. However, it wasn’t that simple for Rusty!

“Hank’s the name, Venture’s the Game!”

Before Rusty could dive into the ridiculous negotiations, Hank was pulled aside by an OSI agent. To Hank’s surprise, the agent was Dermott, his friend/half-brother. Dermott explained that his father pulled some strings to get him into OSI in exchange for keeping his paternity a secret. Hank implied that he still hasn’t realized or remembered that Rusty is Dermott’s dad. Before long, Hank and Dermott witnessed a romantic rendezvous. The lovers were Guild Agent S464 and OSI Agent Kimberly McMannis.

Hank had a bizarre fantasy in which he was a hero who discovered a conspiracy between S464 and Kimberly to overthrow their respective organizations. In reality, Kimberly was repulsed when she found “PP” on S464’s belt. Hank and Dermott wondered how to handle it until Hank decided to “tattle.”

The Secret of H.E.L.P.eR MOD-2

Meanwhile, Dean wandered around the compound and revisited Ben, the man who told him that he was a clone. Instead of Ben, Dean met H.E.L.P.eR MOD-2, a much more intelligent version of H.E.L.P.eR. The Red H.E.L.P.eR bonded with Dean while sharing the origin story of H.E.L.P.eRs and why they were discontinued. Dean attempted to bring Red H.E.L.P.eR out of his self-imposed isolation, but he was too afraid to move on. Red H.E.L.P.eR also inadvertently revealed that Rusty is a clone, just like his sons, Hank and Dean.

Rusty’s Big Moment

Back at the compound, Rusty quickly lost control over the negotiations between OSI and the Guild. Neither side was willing to give an inch, and they even engaged in a ridiculous flipper fight between Shore Leave and Phantom Limb. Both sides nearly walked away from the table and reignited their feud. Finally, Rusty had an epiphany and called both sides “children.” Rusty gave a great speech that actually shamed the two sides back to the negotiating table. It was a rare moment of triumph for Rusty, and both groups congratulated him for it.

In the aftermath, Rusty and Dean had one of the most heartfelt father and son moments they’ve ever had. Dermott ratted out Kimberly and S464, and he also earned praise from his OSI boss. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch was alarmed when she realized that the “PP” on S464 stood for “the Peril Partnership,” a rival group. According to her, the Guild has been infiltrated by a Peril Partnership spy.
