The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 12 Recap

In the previous episode of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, June went to Jezebel’s to see the bartender about a plane for the children but ended up killing Commander Winslow. In The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 12, June and Serena both crossed lines to secure what they wanted.

Just Missing

June expected the Eyes to come for her. She held Commander Lawrence’s gun to the door when she heard people arrive. It was only Eleanor telling her to come help serve their visitors. The Commanders were there to discuss the Waterfords’ capture in Canada. They were considering closing the borders, which would ruin the plan. When the Commanders left, Lawrence told June that they believed Winslow was simply missing. She had gotten away with murder.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 12 Recap

Mrs. Putnam and Mrs. Winslow were at the house to pray for Commander Winslow. When Mrs. Winslow expressed concerns of losing her children, Eleanor offered to take them with them. She had almost spilled the beans about their plan. After they were gone, Eleanor had tried to leave the house to tell people about their plan. June forcefully stopped her.

When June brought Eleanor her food, she found Eleanor unconscious in bed after taking too many pills. Though her first instinct was to go for help, June stopped and watched Eleanor die. She placed the meal outside of the door and went to bed for someone else to discover her.

As the household prepared for Eleanor’s funeral, June tried to gauge Lawrence’s commitment to the plan. He’d been able to keep the borders open. The other Commanders couldn’t say no to him with his wife gone. With the bartender having agreed to help them, all they could do now was wait.
