The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

In the previous episode of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, June honored Ofmatthew by vowing to get as many children out of Gilead as she could. In The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 10, June focused on finding the other Handmaids’ children, while the Gilead way of life finally came for the Lawrences.

Dossiers in the Basement

While at Loaves and Fishes, June tried to spread the word to Alma and her Handmaid allies. However, the Handmaids were called to inspection. The Waterfords were back in town.

Back at the Lawrences’, June looked for Handmaids’ records containing information on where their children ended up. Mrs. Lawrence found her and asked her what she was doing. June admitted what she was looking for, and Mrs. Lawrence showed her to where the Commander stored them in the basement. It had been five years since the rise of Gilead, and June noted how much time the Handmaids had lost with their children.

The Ceremony

Fred persuaded Commander Winslow to look in on the Lawrences during the Ceremony. They wanted proof that the Lawrences weren’t resisting. They had no choice but to take part in it. A doctor would examine June directly after for proof. Mrs. Lawrence was willing to accept their deaths as punishment for their parts in creating Gilead. Unfortunately, June and the Marthas would also be punished for not reporting it. June coached Lawrence into detaching himself from the act. She had a lot of experience with it.

The Lost Children of Gilead

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

June used the horror of what Lawrence was forced to do to persuade him in helping her cause. He could get Mrs. Lawrence out. She would have access to mood stabilizers instead of relying on herbal teas to treat her mental illness. As a war criminal, Joseph couldn’t leave the country with her. However, June pointed out that he could leverage information and the rescue of Gilead’s lost children. He could leave with her too. Joseph agreed to get June a truck to help the children leave.

June told the other Handmaids she wanted to save their children. She lied to Janine about her son, who had died in a car crash. When she arrived home from Loaves and Fishes, Beth had gotten word back from her network of Marthas. There were plenty of them who wanted to help move the children.
