gen:LOCK Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
In the previous episode of Rooster Teeth’s gen:LOCK, Dr. Weller sacrificed himself so the team could escape the Anvil during a Union attack. In gen:LOCK season 1 episode 7, Team gen:LOCK was on the run from the Union when Dr. Weller’s contingency plan brought them to a secret base.
Fuel, Food, Sleep
The team was on the run from the Union, who could always find them eventually if they stayed in one place too long. During a respite, Kazu discovered Valentina knew some of his childhood memories from their mindsharing. Unfortunately, when Chase uploaded into his holon for a moment alone, Nemesis had tapped into his mind. Another wave of Union fighters attacked, and they ran again.
Doctor Ex Machina
Cammie figured out that Nemesis could access their network and therefore knew whenever Chase uploaded to his holon. With the team unable to use their holons and without a purpose, they debated on what was next for them. This triggered Caliban to finally speak, and Chase verified Dr. Weller’s death. A hologram message of Dr. Weller appeared to them and explained that Caliban had all the knowledge he did about gen:LOCK.
Chase asked Caliban about the plans for the gen:LOCk program. He provided coordinates to an assembly facility run by RTASA – Rogue Technology, Aeronautics, and Space Administration. When they arrived on the secret base, a group of soldiers greeted them. Henry, one of the scientists the team had rescued, vouched for them and took them to Dr. Jha, Dr. Weller’s ex-wife, who ran the RTASA facility.
The Lost Holon
Dr. Jha had the team meet with Marc Holcroft, a principal investor in both the ESU and RTASA. He demonstrated he knew everyone’s backgrounds, including Yaz’s. She had outed her parents as intellectuals, and the Union had taken them. Holcroft revealed that the Union had stolen the Nemesis holon from them.
Holcroft tasked Chase and the team with shutting down Nemesis. Cammie explained that Dr. Weller had taught her the basics on gen:LOCK and provided new designs for upgrades to their holons. After RTASA techs repaired and upgraded the holons, they were personalized to their pilots.
