A Diagnosis

The Kominsky Method Season 1 Episode 5

Sandy was awoken in the morning by a phone call from his urologist. Sandy was told that he did not have terminal cancer, but he did have benign cancer. Norman then called and expressed concern over his decision to kick out Phoebe. Sandy began to become concerned when Norman accidentally expressed his belief that Ilene was still conversing with him. It was suggested to Norman that he go back to work as it had been two years since he had been in the office. Sandy went to the park and began to compare his life to that of all of the people he observed. Mindy called and reminded Sandy that he had a class beginning soon. However, he asked Mindy to cover the class for him.

Norman walked into his office building, and was quickly greeted by every person who worked there. Norman called for a meeting with all of his senior agents to begin as soon as possible. At class, Mindy was performing her one woman show about her father and step-mother. The students were deeply intrigued by Mindy’s performance. Sandy went to Lisa’s house and told her about the diagnosis from the urologist. He then tried to convince Lisa to take their relationship to the next level. Lisa was slightly concerned about Sandy’s motivations, so she refused to begin this stage of their relationship immediately.

Meeting Time

Norman kicked off the meeting by thanking everyone for their kind condolence emails. Back at Lisa’s house, Lisa had decided to have sex with Sandy and the encounter was successful for both parties involved. Sandy recited every medicinal product he was on as Lisa was concerned that he was using Viagra. Back at the meeting, Norman tasked his agents to find Sandy a role, but they were saddened by this assignment. One of the clients, Elliott Gould, was meeting with Norman and pitched his newest script, One Foot In The Grave. The script was an action film very similar to Taken, except it took place at Disneyland. Sandy arrived and Norman told him that he had landed Sandy a leading role in a commercial. Sandy shot the commercial that was advertising a reverse mortgage, but he struggled with delivering the lines. He expressed his concerns over the concept of a reverse mortgage. Norman called and told Sandy that Phoebe had overdosed and was in the hospital. Sandy quit the commercial and went to be with Norman.
