“Where Is Alexis?” is an episode of On the Case With Paula Zahn that revolves around the vanishing and subsequent death of Alexis Gabe, a 24-year-old woman from Antioch. It will air on ID on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET.

Alexis Gabe disappeared on January 26, 2022, after she was last seen in her home in Antioch. Soon after, the police found that she was with her ex-boyfriend, Marshall Jones, on the night when she disappeared. Jones, too, admitted that he was with her in his house until 9 p.m. that night before she drove off in her car. On June 1, 2022, the police charged Jones with the murder and went to him with an arrest warrant before he charged them with a knife. A US Marshal then opened fire and killed Jones, CBS News reported.

Shortly after he was killed, Marshall Jones’ friend told authorities that Jones was discussing ideal spots to dispose of bodies. However, he claimed he didn’t take any of those discussions seriously. Alexis Gabe’s family then received handwritten directions to a certain location, which they believed were sent by the killer. According to CBS News, they also believed that those might be the directions to where Alexis was buried. A handwriting analysis reportedly suggested that Jones wrote those notes.

NBC Bay Area reported that Alexis Gabe’s remains had been found in Amador County by a resident with a metal detector. Authorities confirmed that the remains belonged to Alexis after the dental records were matched. Based on the condition of the remains, they also suggested that recovering the complete remains would be nearly impossible. Her family did assert that they would continue looking for answers.

Was Marshall Jones’ mother involved in Alexis Gabe’s murder?

According to another report by NBC Bay Area, the police showed Alexis Gabe’s family some surveillance footage. In that footage, Marshall Jones went over to his mother’s house only a couple of days after Alexis disappeared. He was carrying two large trash bags, which seemed heavy. This led her family to protest outside the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, demanding that Jones’ mother be charged and arrested.

Fox News reported that Jones’ mother, Alicia Coleman Clark, was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting in the murder of Alexis Gabe. However, she was released on May 19, 2022. However, in August 2022, the San Fransisco Chronicle reported that his mother would not be facing charges relating to assisting her son in the murder. This was due to insufficient evidence that suggested she was aware of the crime.

Prior to Marshall Jones becoming a prime suspect in the case, the police found Alexis Gabe’s car in Oakley. The car was unlocked with the key left inside. After an investigation of the surveillance footage of the car, they found an unidentified man getting out of the vehicle and walking away. The video was released to the public. And they announced a $10,000 reward to anyone who had information, CBS News reported.

The On the Case with Paula Zahn episode, “Where Is Alexis?” will be aired on ID on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET.
