Jimmy Hoffa was an American union leader who disappeared in 1975. Despite an elaborate investigation into his whereabouts and possible locations, Hoffa was never found. Many suspect that he was killed by the mob. He was declared dead in 1982, and there had been several searched for his remains, led by the FBI. However, the former Teamsters president has never been found, according to the Independent.

According to BBC, in March 2020, Frank Cappola, a landfill worker, died. His friend reported that Frank, on his death bed, told him about a confession that his father made to him. Frank’s father had allegedly claimed that a group of unidentified men asked him to bury Jimmy Hoffa’s remains in a steel drum, underground. He also informed his friend of the location in the former landfill which led to an elaborate search by the FBI. However, no remains were found in the location.

A couple of years later in 2023, a group of non-profit cold case investigators called The Case Breakers investigated the disappearance and claimed that they found the location where Jimmy Hoffa was buried. They claimed that he was buried next to the Milwaukee Brewers Stadium, Fox News reported.

The Case Breakers also brought in a cadaver dog that identified the location, making the chances of it being the right location higher. However, no solid finds have been made. ABC 7 reported that millions of dollars and many hours have been invested into finding Jimmy Hoffa’s remains. Several locations have been dug up and many claims have been thoroughly investigated. His remains, however, have not been found yet.

When did Jimmy Hoffa disappear.

Jimmy Hoffa vanished from a parking lot outside the Machus Red Fox restaurant, on July 30, 1975. Prior to his disappearance, his power among the union was consistently lowering. In 1964, he was found guilty of jury tampering and was sentenced to prison. According to The New York Times, ever since his release, his attempts to climb his way back up were not working very well. Moreover, he had been friends with Anthony Provenzano, a New Jersey Mafia Boss. But by that time, their relationship became strained and tensions were reported.

On the day of his disappearance, Hoffa was to meet Provenzano and another man at the Machus Red Fox. However, they did not show up. Jimmy Hoffa then left the place and disappeared from the parking lot. He was 62 at the time of the disappearance. Hoffa’s wife, who was at their home in Lake Orion during the disappearance, had spoken to him over a call when he informed her that the men didn’t arrive. He also spoke to a friend, Louis Linteau and informed the same.

Killing Jimmy Hoffa is a 2014 documentary that revolves around the vanishing of the Teamsters’ president and the subsequent searches for him. It explores the details of his disappearance and the events that preceded it, which might have even led up to it. The documentary is currently streaming on Prime Video.
