The story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard is not just tragic but also fascinating. Ever since the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, Gypsy has been making headlines. She has also been the subject of several documentaries and projects over the years.

Gypsy and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, murdered Dee Dee Blanchard in 2015. Prior to her death, the Blanchard family’s neighbors believed that Dee Dee Blanchard was the perfect mother. She used to look after her wheelchair-bound daughter, Gypsy, and made sure nothing bad ever happened to her. Following the matriarch’s death, investigators shockingly learned that Gypsy was never sick or that she didn’t need serious medication to survive. Furthermore, she could walk and stand normally.

Springfield News-Leader stated that Dee Dee Blanchard suffered from a condition called Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. This psychological disorder pushes the caretaker to make someone ill on purpose or make people around them believe that the person is ill. They reportedly do this to get “sympathy, attention and money.”

Recently, after Gypsy, who is now 32 years old, was released from prison, she has been spotted in public several times. She even has social media, with over 8 million followers on Instagram. Moreover, she is active on the platform, sharing regular updates about her life and giving her followers a glimpse of her marital life with her husband, Ryan Anderson

When was Gypsy Rose Blanchard released from prison?

According to CBS News, Gypsy Rose Blanchard received a 10-year prison sentence in 2016 after she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. However, she served 85% of her punishment and got out early on December 28, 2023. The 32-year-old is currently married to a Louisiana-based teacher named Ryan Anderson. Reportedly, the couple tied the knot in 2022.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, Gypsy Rose Blanchard revealed that she deeply regrets her actions every single day and is not proud of being responsible for her mother’s death. She stated, “If I had another chance to redo everything. I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick.”

She further said, “Or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick. And tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.”

In the same interview, Gypsy said that she hoped that her story would be used as a lesson. She stated, “I want to make sure that people in abusive relationships do not resort to murder. It may seem like every avenue is closed off but there is always another way. Do anything, but don’t take this course of action.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was born on July 27, 1991. According to Today, her mother, Dee Dee, was 24 when she became pregnant with Gypsy.
