What Was Cleveland Kidnapper Ariel Castro’s Cause of Death?

Ariel Castro was reportedly behind the infamous Cleveland kidnappings took place between 2002 and 2004. He was born to Pedro Castro and Lillian Rodriguez on July 10, 1960, in Duey, Yauco, Puerto Rico. At the time of his arrest, the convict was 52 years old.

Between 2002 and 2004, Ariel Castro kidnapped three girls, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus, from Cleaveland, Ohio. He held them captive in his home, which was on 2207 Seymour Avenue, Cleveland, till 2013. On May 6 of the same year, after contacting Castro’s neighbors, Amanda Berry was able to escape with her six-year-old daughter. Soon after, authorities were finally able to arrest the convict.

Berry reportedly gave birth to her daughter while she was held captive. Following her escape, she informed the police, who soon arrived at Castro’s residence and rescued Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus.

Ariel Castro took his own life in his detention cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio. This happened on September 3, 2013. At the time of his death, he was 53 years old. In 2015, the Lifetime TV film Cleveland Abduction shed light on this tragic case. It was directed by Alex Kalymnios, with the script written by Stephen Tolkin.

According to IMDb, the synopsis of Cleveland Abduction reads, “A single mother, who becomes the first victim of kidnapper Ariel Castro, finds herself trapped in his home for 11 years, where she eventually becomes a friend and sister to two other women who are taken captive by Castro.”

How did Ariel Castro take his own life?

According to CNN, officials discovered the lifeless body of Ariel Castro with a sheet tied around his neck. Prior to his suicide, he even wrote a note that said, “God loves you. For all are sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God. Christ is my saviour and yours!!”

The court had reportedly sentenced Castro to life plus more than 1,000 years in prison for his crimes. However, he died only one month into his punishment.
