Eye Drops Murder Trial: What Is Jessy Kurczewski Accused Of?

A woman from Wisconsin, named Jessy Kurczewski, has been accused of murdering her friend Lynn Hernan in 2018. At the time of her death, Hernan was 62 years old. Furthermore, the Daily Mail reports that the accused also stole a whopping amount of $300,000 from the victim.

To get rid of Hernan, Jessy allegedly poisoned her with eye drops. The suspect’s goal was to make the entire crime scene look like a suicide. After the victim’s autopsy, officials revealed that they discovered a fatal dose of tetrahydrozoline in her corpse.

Tetrahydrozoline aka Tetryzoline is a drug that is the main ingredient in eye drops. Patented in 1954, it has been used for medical purposes since 1959. In recent news, Jessy Kurczewski has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Lynn Hernan.

How much money did Jessy Kurczewski steal from Lynn Hernan?

According to the Daily Mail, the accused confessed that she purchased a water bottle for her friend. The bottle contained six vials worth of eyedrops from the brand, Visine. The victim consumed the entire contents of the bottle. Jessy Kurczewski further added she was trying to help her friend and did nothing that the deceased did not want.

After Lynn Hernan passed away, investigators learned that the suspect committed a $300,000 fraud on her victim. This fraudulent transaction also involved a $130,204 cheque which Kurczewski illicitly transferred to herself.

According to TMJ4, Assistant District Attorney Randy Sitzberger commented on the case by saying, “There’s certainly a factual, bare-bones timeline of theft, murder, and more theft. But there’s this almost overlaid timeline of all of the defendant’s lies and deceit.” He continued, “She finally gave that water bottle, knowing it had, in the defendant’s estimation, six bottles of Visine to Lynn Hernan, knowing it could kill her, and walks out of that condo unit, closes the door, and goes shopping on Lynn’s dime.”

The trial of Jerry Kurczewski is still in progress, as more witnesses are appearing to put forth their testimonies.
