In an upcoming episode of ABC 20/20, viewers will get a chance to dive deep into the shocking murder case of Dan Markel. It will air on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.

Who was Dan Markel and how was he murdered?

Dan Markel was a very well-respected legal figure in the Tallahassee community. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, he was married to a Florida State University law professor named Wendi Adelson, with whom he had two sons. However, the couple went separate ways in 2012. Furthermore, their divorce, which took place in 2013, was extremely messy.

On July 18, 2014, Markel dropped off his two children at their preschool and went to a gym called Premier Fitness. Then, when he returned home, he received two gun shots. Although an ambulance took him to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

The person who pulled the trigger was Sigfredo Garcia. Luis Rivera and Sigfredo Garcia were stalking the attorney using their rented Toyota Prius. It was none other than Markel’s former brother-in-law, Charlie Adelson, who orchestrated this sinister plan.
