How Was Dan Markel Murdered?

On July 18, 2014, Dan Markel dropped his sons at Creative Preschool, trained at a gym named Premiere Fitness, and finally returned to his home, which is situated on Trescott Drive in Betton Hills. However, Markel was unaware that Rivera and Garcia were stalking him while he was going about his day.

Rivera and Garcia rented a Toyota Prius. Furthermore, they came all the way from Miami to Tallahassee to murder Markel. According to Rivera’s testimony, Garcia was the one to pull the trigger.

Rivera said, “As soon as we pulled in, Garcia jumped out and went behind his car to the driver’s side and shot him. Twice.”

A neighbor of Markel spotted him in his garage and dialed 911. However, it took close to 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. He was soon taken to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, where he breathed his last.
