David Kinney’s sentence: Killer given life in prison for Brad McGarry’s murder
On May 7, 2013, the corpse of Brad McGarry was found in the basement of his own house. He had suffered massive blood loss from two gunshots, that eventually resulted in his death. When officials began their investigation, they noticed that the house had been scatted and turned upside down. This made them believe that the assailant’s goal was to rob the coalminer.
As the investigation continued, they realized that the burglary was just a setup. The officials then proceeded to interview the victim’s friends and family members and concluded that he was dating a man named DJ. Investigators dug further and were shocked to learn that DJ and David Kinney were the same people.
Officials then went all out on Kinney and the convict eventually confessed to his crime. Brad McGarry wanted Kinney to leave his wife and be with him. However, Kinney didn’t want to do that. Furthermore, the convict revealed that what he did was because he wanted to protect himself from his boyfriend. However, the investigators believe that the purpose of the murder was to keep Kinney’s affair and sexual preferences hidden.
