Dateline NBC: Where is Manuela Allen’s Killer Julius Mullins Now?

Dateline NBC examines the crimes of high school student Julius Mullins, who viciously murdered his ex-girlfriend’s mother, Manuela Allen. The upcoming episode, titled “The Footprints at the Lake,” will air on the network this Friday, October 13, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.

Mullins and Allen’s daughter, Melanie, broke up six or seven months before the incident. He wasn’t happy about the split and, according to the victim’s family, murdered the Olney (Texas) teacher to exact a twisted revenge. The teen admitted to breaking into the Allen family’s house and murdering her on the night of July 6, 2019. He then took her body to a different location, where police found the deceased the following day.

Oxygen reported that in May 2020, Mullins pleaded guilty to the charges and received multiple sentences, including 55 years in prison for murder. He is currently serving time at the James V. Allred Unit in Texas, as per prison records.

Julius Mullins pleads guilty: What charges did the high school student face?

According to Big Country Homepage, police arrested Mullins, an Olney High School student, on July 16, 2019. He was linked to teacher Manuela Allen’s slaying using his bike’s tire tracks and fingerprints. The suspect initially denied involvement but later admitted to murdering the mother-of-four at her family home.

Allen died of at least 47 stab wounds and strangulation. She also sustained a gunshot wound to the face post-mortem. On July 7, police found her body wrapped in bloody sheets near Lake Cooper along with her stolen car. Reports claim that the attacker killed her at the family’s home before dragging her body out, loading it into her car, and driving it to the location near the lake.

Olney Enterprise reported that the 18-year-old faced charges such as first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and one count of burglary. He pleaded guilty to all three charges on May 28, 2020. Thereafter, a judge sentenced him to 55 years for murder and 20 years for burglary with an additional 20 years for the abuse of a corpse charge. All sentences are to run concurrently.

According to the Texas Department of Corrections. Julius Mullins is currently serving these concurrent sentences at the James V. Allred Unit.
