Amanda Seyfried recently shared her thoughts on Hollywood‘s tendency to make sequel movies in a recent interview. Throughout her career, Seyfried has starred in several sequel projects like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ted 2. Notably, the 39-year-old actress was recently announced to be reprising her role from Ted 2 in a Ted sequel series from Peacock.

Amanda Seyfriend recently sat down with Interview Magazine alongside Rachel Brosnahan. The two actresses discussed their respective careers and Brosnahan’s role as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman.
During their discussion, the topic of Hollywood making sequel movies emerged, leading to Seyfried sharing her thoughts on the subject. “There’s a little bit of fatigue with sequels,” the actress shared, stressing that she wanted “original content.” She further stated that making original content is “really scary and brave” and that “it’s not scary and not very brave to do sequels.”
Seyfried noted how sequels were only being made “for money” and that the process was “frustrating.” However, she soon contradicted her sentiments by sharing that she would do “Mamma Mia! 3 in a heartbeat.”
In response, Brosnahan noted that she would be willing to do a sequel to Superman. The actress noted that she and the rest of the cast and crew “had a great time” filming the first film. “There’s also so many people in this cast who I didn’t get to work with,” The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star added.
Previously, Seyfried appeared to confirm in an Actors on Actors interview with Adam Brody that the sequel to her and Megan Fox’s 2009 horror comedy movie Jennifer’s Body was being developed. She asked Brody if he’s interested in returning to the sequel and said she wouldn’t do the film “without” Fox.
