Lionsgate has released the first trailer for their upcoming film The Glass Castle, based on the New York Times best-selling 2005 memoir by Jeannette Walls. Check out the Glass Castle trailer below, along with new stills in the gallery!
The film stars Brie Larson (Room), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games) and Naomi Watts (King Kong). The Glass Castle was written by Destin Daniel Cretton (who also directed) and Andrew Lanham.
Based on one of the longest-running New York Times best-sellers, The Glass Castle tells the story of Jeannette Walls’ unconventional upbringing at the hands of her deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant parents, and her journey towards acceptance and fulfillment.
Here is the Amazon description of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls: “When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.”
It’s produced by Gil Netter and Kan Kao from Netter Productions. The Glass Castle will hit theaters on August 11, 2017.
