The Artist Debuts Trailer and Poster

The astonishing trailer to Michel Hazanavicius’ The Artist has debuted at the French film site, Lyricis Interactive and offers non-Cannes goers a first look at the film’s exacting recreation of period Hollywood.

Set during the transition from silents to sound, The Artist provides a fictionalized tale of film history and is, itself, created as a silent, starring French actors Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo alongside John Goodman, Missi Pyle, Penelope Ann Miller and James Cromwell.

The LA Times reports that the film has been moved from its original “out of competition” category to an official selection, meaning that The Artist now has a shot at the coveted Palme d’Or.
