One of the films you’ll find on my Oscar predictions lists for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor is Peter Sollett‘s upcoming film Freeheld and today the first trailer for the potential Oscar contender in those categories and more has arrived.
Starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page, the film centers on New Jersey car mechanic Stacie Andree (Page) and her police detective girlfriend Laurel Hester (Moore) as they battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits after she was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Steve Carell, Luke Grimes, Michael Shannon and Mary Birdsong co-star.
Lionsgate is targeting an Oct. 2 release date and I fully expect this one to be at the Toronto Film Festival and most likely Telluride and New York. We’ll know soon enough, but for now give the trailer a watch and see what you think.
