If San Andreas were hitting theaters from Roland Emmerich it seems like it would be getting a lot more criticism than it is. In fact, I get the impression people are really looking forward to this one. Is it because of Dwayne Johnson? It can’t be because of director Brad Peyton (Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) can it? Though, kudos to him for finally making a movie with only two words in the title.
In all honesty, that first trailer had me laughing at the attempted tension delivered by Paul Giamatti and while I’ll obviously check this one out, I can say I’m expecting much more than just another piece of disaster porn.
San Andreas arrives on June 5, check out the final trailer below.
After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning, and when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.
