Watch: New Trailer for ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ Starring Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart

I am a sucker for movies about actors. It is a profession I find extremely interesting, and doing a bit of it here and there only makes me more intrigued with it. That is part of the reason stories like The Last 5 Years and Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) strike such a chord with me. Olivier Assayas‘ latest film, Clouds of Sils Maria, like Birdman, deals with an actor (here, played by Juliette Binoche) who is aging. The film was just given a new trailer, which you can watch below.

The only film of Assayas’ I have seen up to this point is Summer Hours, also featuring Binoche. I thought it was quite a moving family drama, and I know I have been needing to catch up on more of his filmography. So, the release of this movie, which is April 10, 2015, gives me a deadline to catch up.

The cast for this film also includes Kristen Stewart and Chloë Grace Moretz, both of whom I thoroughly enjoy (yes, even Stewart). Also, how great is it there is a film centered on three women? How often does that happen? Again, you can give a glance to the new trailer below. I am looking forward to this film (not having seen the trailer). I’m certainly looking forward to it more than the Tom Hanks produced Summer Hours remake.

At the peak of her international career, Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche) is asked to perform in a revival of the play that made her famous twenty years ago. But back then she played the role of Sigrid, an alluring young girl who disarms and eventually drives her boss Helena to suicide. Now she is being asked to step into the other role, that of the older Helena. She departs with her assistant (Kristen Stewart) to rehearse in Sils Maria; a remote region of the Alps. A young Hollywood starlet with a penchant for scandal (Chloë Grace Moretz) is to take on the role of Sigrid, and Maria finds herself on the other side of the mirror, face to face with an ambiguously charming woman who is, in essence, an unsettling reflection of herself.
