Watch: New Trailer for David Cross’s Directorial Debut ‘Hits’

I think we can all agree David Cross is a comedic master. From his stand up to sketch work (if you haven’t seen “Mr. Show with Bob and David”, what’s wrong with you?) to various acting performances, we know Cross is capable of being the funny. Now, he has taken the challenge of writing and directing his first feature film, a fame in the social media age satire entitled Hits, which has a new trailer for you to watch below.

The film premiered at Sundance last year to not the greatest reviews, but it was still being sought for distribution. Cross was not happy with any of distribution options laid out for him coming out of Sundance and decided to take distribution into his own hands. You will be able to pay what you want for the film through BitTorrent, and Cross has set up a Kickstarter campaign to raise $100,000 for theatrical distribution, marketing, and so on.

I am glad he is taking this approach on the film. Get it directly to the people who want to see it and let them pay what they feel is right. It sounds like it could turn out quite good for Cross and his crew. I will probably be one of the people hoping it gets to my theater, but if it doesn’t, I’ll be happy to know I can just watch it at anytime for any price.

Again, you can watch the trailer starring Upright Citizen’s Brigade co-founder Matt Walsh below:
