Official Domestic Trailer for Xavier Dolan’s ‘Mommy’

I just can’t stop writing about Xavier Dolan‘s Mommy as I wrote only a couple hours ago about it being Canada’s official submission for Best Foreign Language film at the 2015 Oscars and now Roadside Attractions has released the first official domestic trailer for the film, which the studio says they’ll be releasing some time in January 2015.

Mommy tells the story of a feisty widowed single mom (Anne Dorval) who finds herself burdened with the full-time custody of her unpredictable 15-year-old ADHD son (Antoine-Olivier Pilon). As they struggle to make ends meet, Kyla (Suzanne Clement), the peculiar new neighbor across the street, offers her help. Together, they find a new sense of balance, and hope is regained.

I caught this one in Toronto after its Jury Prize appearance at Cannes and loved it, here’s a snippet from my review:

Few things are more satisfying than when you’re anticipating an artist’s next piece of work and it lives up to your expectations and Mommy is just such a situation. It’s unfair how much I’ve come to expect from each of Dolan’s films, but it’s the price that comes with quality. He is delivering some of the absolute best movies out there right now and that is something that deserves to be celebrated.

You can read the full review here, but first here’s the trailer.
