The first trailer for the latest reboot of the Amityville Horror franchise has arrived, this time with the title Amityville: The Awakening as we witness the story of a mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) of three that moves into the Amityville house only to quickly learn of the darkness that lurks within.
Dimension has set a January 2, 2015 release date for the picture, which isn’t necessarily a sign of quality, but simply a sign their hoping to take advantage of that early year release slot that has proven to be a decent starting point for horror films as of late, most notably The Devil Inside, which brought in over $100 million worldwide back in 2012.

Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
