Do you know what The Babadook is? If not, join the club, but today the first trailer for the horror film was released and with it I’ve come to learn it was highly praised at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and IFC will be releasing it later this year.
Directed by first timer Jennifer Kent, the film found its funding via Kickstarter, and it tells the story of a single mother (Essie Davis), plagued by the violent death of her husband, as she battles with her son’s (Noah Wiseman) fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.
No date on when IFC will be releasing, but it will be playing Fantastic Fest next month if you’re looking for a way to see it ASAP.
Check out the trailer below.
