Watch: ‘The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby’ Trailer Starring James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain

The Weinstein Co. has released the first trailer for The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, a film that had its premiere in two parts — Him and Her — at the Toronto Film Festival last year, but has now been cut into one film that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this past May to very, very high marks.

Starring James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain, the film is set for a September 26 release, which suggests it just might have a second TIFF showing, telling the story of a relationship in the beautifully relatable portrait of love, empathy and truth.

Once happily married, Conor (McAvoy) and Eleanor (Chastain) suddenly find themselves as strangers longing to understand each other in the wake of tragedy. The film explores the couple’s story as they try to reclaim the life and love they once knew and pick up the pieces of a past that may be too far gone.

Eleanor Rigby is directed by Ned Benson and co-stars Ciaran Hinds, Archie Panjabi, William Hurt, Bill Hader, Viola Davis, Jess Weixler and Isabelle Huppert. Watch the trailer below.
