Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) will see his new film The Search, starring Berenice Bejo, premiere in front of press at the Cannes Film Festival tomorrow, but today we are all getting an advanced look at the upcoming feature with the first trailer, poster and a few pictures.
The film is a remake of Fred Zinneman‘s 1948 film, this one taking place in 1999 and set in war-torn Chechnya. A small boy has fled his village after his parents were killed, joining the flood of refugees when He meets Carole (Bejo), a European Union delegation head. Little by little, with her help, he will return to life.
Along with Bejo, the film co-stars Annette Bening and is obviously being considered a film to look out for come Oscar season. Tomorrow’s screening and critical reception will help us in figuring out just how big a player it might be.
