The first The Secret Life of Walter Mitty trailer has arrived and many are comparing what they’re seeing to Forrest Gump and It’s a Wonderful Life while Kevin over at The Playlist sees a little Life of Pi in the proceedings given the CGI emphasis. Personally, with the music and the shot selection (particularly at the beginning of the trailer) I get a bit of a Danny Boyle meets Wes Anderson vibe from it.
Starring and directed by Ben Stiller, the film centers on a timid LIFE magazine photo manager (Stiller) who lives life vicariously through daydreams and embarks on a true-life adventure when a negative goes missing. The film co-stars Kristen Wiig, Patton Oswalt, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn and Sean Penn and is set for a Christmas Day release.
There’s a bit of Oscar talk surrounding this one and for more than just visual effects, but given the trailer is 98% music accompanying images I can’t really tell what I think. How about you?
