Some readers around these parts get mad when I post something for Pacific Rim and talk about how dumb I think it looks and how much it looks like a mash-up of Transformers, Real Steel, Godzilla and the noisy sound design of Sucker Punch. So, as a result, I’m not going to do that this time. You can’t make me!
All I will say is the film is coming to theaters on July 12 and features monsters from the bottom of the ocean and human-driven giant robots must fight them in order to save the planet.
It’s directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman.
