The ‘Carrie’ Remake Teaser Trailer Bathes in Blood, Fire and Brimstone

I get the feeling this teaser trailer for the Carrie remake may not actually be footage from the film, but simply a promo video, which I like because it captures the essence of the character, a soon-to-be telekinetic psychopath, while offering up imagery fans of the Stephen King novel and previous Brian De Palma film will recognize.

This, however, is praise for the marketing as I’m still not sold on the film overall, though many of you felt otherwise when you commented on my post featuring a first look at the poster for the film. Fair enough, and I like your confidence. I guess sometimes we need a little more of that, even if we are simply talking about yet another remake.

The story, for the unfamiliar, is detailed below.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Julianne Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Chloe Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

The film hits theaters on March 15, 2013, check out the teaser below.
