The trailer at least seems to fit the material as we have a first look at Paul Schrader’s The Canyons from a script by Bret Easton Ellis and starring Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen.
Described as a contemporary L.A. noir, The Canyons is said to be about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.
Gus Van Sant of all people will play the psychiatrist of the lead character, Christian (Deen), a film producer that enjoys filming his own three-way sex sessions. Lohan plays Tara, Christian’s girlfriend and former model.
The film does not yet have a release date, but a Sundance debut is being speculated. Check out the trailer (via The Playlist) and poster below.
I will say this about the film, Paul Schrader (writer and/or co-writer of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull) has a career worth exploring further and this is just one more mystery among the bunch.
