I can’t really say I was expecting much, but the trailer for Dario Argento‘s Dracula 3D doesn’t have me interested in the slightest. Lame CG effects are one thing, but I don’t see anything that would make me think Argento was coming at this age old story with anything other than the 3D gimmick.
Starring Thomas Kretschmann as Dracula, Asia Argento, Marta Gastini, Unax Ugalde, Miriam Giovanelli and Rutger Hauer as Van Helsing, the film appears to be no more than the traditional take on Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” with awful CG effects and very lame line-reading.
The pic is set to be screened as part of the Midnight selection at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and will have its first screenings on Sunday, May 20, but I can’t really say I’m going to make it a priority. I have a feeling it would be more fun to walk around the city taking pictures than sitting down to watch this for 106 minutes. Have a look and see what you think.
