The first trailer and poster for hope Springs starring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell came online last night (via Moviefone) offering the first look at the upcoming dramedy set to hit theaters on August 10.
I included Streep in my early Best Actress predictions, but I’m not expecting her to crack the top five.
Directed by Streep’s The Devil Wears Prada helmer, David Frankel, and written by “Game of Thrones” and “Everwood” scripter Vanessa Taylor the story centers on a devoted couple (Streep and Jones) who seek the help of a renowned couple’s specialist (Carell). Once she’s able to convince him to go, the real challenge for both of them comes as they shed their bedroom hang-ups and try to re-ignite the spark that caused them to fall for each other in the first place.
I’ve included the trailer directly below. Give it a watch and let me know what you think of Streep’s Oscar chances or, perhaps, do you see a chance for Jones or Carell? And beyond that, does it simply look like a good movie, which we all know is more important than an Oscar anyway?
I’m asking because I didn’t watch the trailer. This is one I can wait until August to see.
