New ‘Rock of Ages’ Trailer

I took my time in posting this new trailer for Rock of Ages primarily because I’m really not too interested in the film and I’m not sure too many other people are either. I remember seeing the first trailer in the theater and the collective silence of a packed house after it played. As a matter of fact, five or so trailers played before that screening and walking out I was able to remember all of them except one… I’ll let you guess which one.

For those that are interested, Rock of Ages is based on the hit Broadway play and it tells the story of small town girl Sherrie (Julianne Hough) and city boy Drew (Diego Boneta), who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Curiously enough, while I didn’t watch this trailer, in searching for a screen capture to go with this post you would have a hard time convincing me this wasn’t all about Tom Cruise‘s character, Stacie Jaxx. But hey, looks can be deceiving.

Along with Cruise, Hough and Boneta, the film co-stars Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Diego Gonzalez Boneta, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bryan Cranston, Malin Akerman and Alec Baldwin and it features a slew of ’80s rock bands including Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison and Whitesnake. It’s directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray) and is set to hit theaters on June 15.
