Happy 203rd Mr. Lincoln: The ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ Trailer is Here

It’s only appropriate, I guess, that 20th Century Fox use Abraham Lincoln’s birthday to launch the first trailer for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Had our 16th president survived to this day he would be 203 years old, but if I’m not mistaken in this adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name, he never becomes a vampire himself, he simply battles them to the death before taking office in March of 1861.

This reimagining features Lincoln as an axe-throwing, highly trained vampire assassin, promising to give new context to real historical events such as the Civil War and Lincoln’s ascension to the White House. It begins with his mother’s murder when he was still a young boy and his vow of revenge.

In the title role is Benjamin Walker (Kinsey), whom most of you probably don’t know, but we will be having a piece on him soon enough as Kevin participated in an event for the film in Springfield this past weekend and also visited the set last year. Walker is joined in the film by the likes of Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Robin McLeavy, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Robin McLeavy, Alan Tudyk and Rufus Sewell and the feature is directed by Wanted helmer Timur Bekmambetov.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter hits theaters on June 22. You can check out the trailer courtesy of Time directly below and click here to browse my gallery of 15 images from the flick.
