Millenium has finally debuted a trailer for Oren Moverman‘s Rampart the corrupt cop drama I saw in Toronto and in my review described it as “an art house version of Training Day as [Moverman] explores one man’s descent into Hell.”
That man is Officer Dave Brown as played by Woody Harrelson. He’s a Vietnam vet and a Rampart Precinct cop. He considers himself a “soldier” doing “the people’s dirty work” and asserting his own code of justice, often blurring the lines between right and wrong to maintain his action-hero state of mind.
To tell you much more than it follows Dave’s decent into his own personal Hell would be to say too much. You can read my review if you want a little more insight along with my personal opinion on the film, which I really did enjoy. Other than that, give the trailer a watch and look out for Rampart on November 23. This may end up being the film that earns Harrelson his third Oscar nomination… he definitely deserves it.
