Sales Trailer for ‘The Lorax’ from the Folks Behind ‘Despicable Me’ Leaks Online Very Early

Featured below is a very, very early sales trailer for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax from the folks behind Despicable Me — Chris Renaud, Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

The trailer (a term I use loosely because it’s not a finished product) is essentially an animated film’s version of a sales trailer and it’s probably being used to sell the film in foreign markets. Cartoon Brew first came across it, but it’s clearly a piece of work that has not been finished and should not be judged. Though I will say I did enjoy the part where he chops the tree down and blames it on the teddy bear.

The plot for the film appears to only be a set up for the story being told in the trailer, telling us The Lorax, adapted from Dr. Seuss’ 1971 storybook of the same name, is narrated by a greedy entrepreneur who, despite warnings from the tree-loving Lorax (Danny DeVito), strips a forest of its stock of Truffula trees to manufacture clothing. The results are catastrophic as all the animals leave and nothing’s left. And with that you’re ready to watch.

Along with DeVito, the voice cast is made up of Zac Efron, Betty White, Ed Helms, Rob Riggle and Taylor Swift. Efron would appear to be Ted, the young kid running around, and Swift is Audrey, the red head at the beginning. The film hits theaters on March 2, 2012.
