I wasn’t as enamored with the original Happy Feet as everyone else in society seemed to be, but that can sometimes be the case when people shower a film with love and then it wins the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and you sit back and look at it and go, “It was alright.” You’re not being a hater of any sort, but when you look at the amount of kudos bestowed on the film about a dancing penguin and wonder why you weren’t as excited about it as everyone else it can sometimes be confusing. So excuse me if I’m not exactly looking forward to the return to Antarctica in Happy Feet Two as much as I’ll simply be interested to see it and hope it outdoes the original.
Today the first toe-tapping teaser trailer was released as a reminder the film is hitting theaters on November 18, which may come as a surprise to many as Warner hasn’t exactly been buzzing about this title as the talk around director George Miller had more to do with the stalled production of Mad Max: Fury Road rather than the sequel to the 2006 hit animated film.
Nevertheless, here it is… get your first look.
The sequel to the Academy Award winning animated smash hit, Happy Feet Two returns audiences to the magnificent landscape of Antarctica in superb 3D. Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son Erik is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik runs away and encounters The Mighty Sven – a penguin who can fly!! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model. But things get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces. Erik learns of his father’s ‘guts and grit’ as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures – from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals – to put things right. The film features the voice work of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Alecia Moore (Pink), Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Sofia Vergara.
