First Trailer for ‘The Help’ Starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer

DreamWorks sent over three new images earlier today for their upcoming film The Help based on Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel and now they’ve unveiled the first trailer (via AOL).

The story centers on the three women you see pictured above — Skeeter (Emma Stone), Aibileen (Viola Davis) and Minny (Octavia Spencer) — three very different women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed — even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.

Directed by Tate Taylor, the film will certainly make an attempt at an Oscar push following its August 12 release. Have a look at the trailer and tell me if you think it has what it takes.
