Shadow and Act (via The Playlist) has debuted the poster you see to the right for 13, a remake of the French-language film 13 Tzameti, centering on young man who stumbles into an underground competition where the wealthy gamble on human beings in a Russian Roulette-like competition.
The young man in question is played by Sam Riley (Control) and he’s surrounded by action/tough guy notables 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Ray Winstone in a film directed by Gela Babluani making his feature directorial debut.
Shadow and Act found the following trailer at the film’s finance/production/distribution company’s website, Magnet Media, where it gives the following complete synopsis:
Vince (Sam Riley), a young man, has decided to follow instructions intended for someone else without knowing where they will take him. Something else he does not know is that Larry Mullane (David Zayas), a cop on a knife-edige, is tailing him. When he reaches his destination Vince falls into a degenerate, clandestine world of mental chaos behind closed doors in which men gamble on the lives of other men.
The cast also includes Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd (“True Blood”), Emmanuelle Chriqui, Michael Shannon and Natasha Lyonne.
MMG lists Paramount Vantage as the distributor, but I haven’t heard anything of that sort so for now consider this film’s release still up in the air. The film, however, has already been rated R for disturbing violence, language and brief drug use.
