While the trailer for Sanctum says it was inspired by true events (so was Unstoppable by the way), it’s hard not to listen to the corny voice over and watch the trailer and not think of it as The Descent without the cave-dwelling monsters.
Produced by James Cameron, Sanctum is directed by Alister Grierson and stars Richard Roxburgh, Rhys Wakefield, Ioan Gruffudd, Alice Parkinson and Dan Wyllie as a team of underwater cave divers on an expedition to the least accessible cave system on Earth, but a tropical storm hits sending them deep into the caverns, searching for an escape route to the sea.
The film is set to hit theaters on February 4, 2011 in… you guessed it… 3D, an experience that will apparently “take your breath away.”
