New Trailer, Poster and Pictures from Sundance Hit ‘Winter’s Bone’

Winter’s Bone was acquired by Roadside Attractions out of Sundance and has been set for a June 11 release and today the official site has released a first look at the poster (which you see to the right), the New York Times debuted the trailer (which is at the bottom of this article) and Roadside has delivered 12 new images from the film.

Directed by Debra Granik, marking her second feature film, Winter’s Bone is an adaptation of Daniel Woodrell’s novel centering on 17 year-old Ree Dolly, played by Jennifer Lawrence whom anyone who saw last year’s The Burning Plain will remember as Kim Basinger’s teenaged daughter. Ree sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. If she fails, Ree and her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods. Challenging her outlaw kin’s code of silence and risking her life, Ree hacks through the lies, evasions and threats offered up by her relatives and begins to piece together the truth. Other members of the cast include John Hawkes, Lauren Sweetser, Kevin Breznahan, Isaiah Stone, Shelley Waggener, Ashlee Thompson and Tate Taylor.

The film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and Granik and writing partner Anne Rosellini won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award there as well. Granik was honored at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival and only a week ago the film led the narrative jury winners at the 19th annual Florida Film Festival. To say it’s listed in my “The Contenders” section is a no-brainer and I can’t wait to give it a watch.
