Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke on Terminator Genisys

Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke play a very unusual father and son in this week’s Terminator Genisys!

This week, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are jump-starting the Terminator franchise with a new big screen entry, Terminator Genisys, directed by Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World helmer Alan Taylor. Yesterday, we brought you an exclusive interview with star Emilia Clarke (who steps into the role of Sarah Connor, famously originated by Linda Hamilton) and now we’re back with another video featuring stars Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke. Check it out in the player below and stay tuned tomorrow our third video, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger himself!

In the film, when John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…

In the below conversation, Courtney discusses becoming part of a franchise that he grew up with while Clarke, who starred in last summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, details his fondness for the science fiction genre. There’s also talk of parallel timelines, temporal mechanics and John Connor’s overall plan as, in this iteration of the franchise, a villain.

Also starring J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Matthew Smith, Courtney B. Vance and Byung-Hun Lee, Terminator Genisys features a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The movie will hit theaters this Wednesday, July 1 and is the first in a planned trilogy of films.
