James Cameron’s breakout sci-fi classic is getting an upgrade. The Terminator 4K UHD release is confirmed to be on the way from Warner Bros.
The Terminator 4K UHD Landing in the (Near) Future
The iconic film that launched Cameron’s career and catapulted its star Arnold Schwarzenegger into superstardom celebrates its 40th anniversary this October, and joins other Cameron movies such as The Abyss, True Lies, and Titanic on 4K UHD.
In the post-apocalyptic future, reigning tyrannical supercomputers teleport a cyborg assassin known as the “Terminator” back to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, whose unborn son is destined to lead insurgents against 21st-century mechanical hegemony. Meanwhile, the human resistance movement dispatches a lone warrior to safeguard Sarah. Can he stop the virtually indestructible killing machine?
The movie starred Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Micheal Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, and Dick Miller.
The Terminator spawned several sequels, all but one of which saw Schwarzenegger return as the T-800 cyborg, albeit different ones each time. Cameron only returned to direct the first sequel, but did serve as producer on 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Cameron said last year that he’s writing a new Terminator movie, but was waiting to see how AI shakes out before finishing it (I’d like to think he’s thoroughly underwhelmed by it)
More details on The Terminator 4K UHD release will be revealed later in the year, and a release date should be shored up in that time as well.
