A24 has released the official trailer for Janet Planet, a new drama movie directed by Annie Baker.
The Janet Planet trailer previews an emotional coming-of-age movie starring Julianne Nicholson (Dream Scenario, Mare of Easttown), Zoe Ziegler, Elias Koteas (The Thin Red Line, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Will Patton (Halloween Ends, Minari), and Sophie Okonedo (Slow Horses, Heart of Stone). The A24 film will be released in theaters this June.

What is Janet Planet about?
“In rural Western Massachusetts, 11-year-old Lacy spends the summer of 1991 at home, enthralled by her own imagination and the attention of her mother, Janet,” the synopsis reads. “As the months pass, three visitors enter their orbit, all captivated by Janet and her spellbinding nature. In her solitary moments, Lacy inhabits an inner world so extraordinarily detailed that it begins to seep into the outside world. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker captures a child’s experience of time passing, and the ineffability of a daughter falling out of love with her mother, in this singularly sublime film debut.”
Janet Planet marks Baker’s feature film directorial debut. Baker — who is best known as a playwright who won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for her play, The Flick —also wrote the script for the movie and produced it alongside Dan Janvey, Derrick Tseng, and Andrew Goldman.
Having premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival in 2023, Janet Planet opens in select United States theaters on June 21, 2024, before it then expands nationwide on June 28, 2024.
