Evil Dead Rise Clip Previews Beginning of the Possession

A brand new Evil Dead Rise clip for New Line Cinema‘s next installment in Sam Raimi’s long-running horror franchise has been revealed, teasing an extended look at the one of the film’s many terrifying sequences. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 21.

The video features Alyssa Sutherland’s Ellie as she starts to slowly get possessed by the demons from the Book of the Dead. While her three children and sister witness her very disturbing behavior in the kitchen, she tells them about a dream that involved their gruesome deaths. Before getting fully taken over by the demons, Ellie tries to gain little control of her mind by pleading with her sister to protect her children.

Evil Dead Rise stars Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock), along with Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The Girlfriend Experience), and Nell Fisher (Northspur). Executive producer and franchise star Bruce Campbell previously confirmed that the upcoming film wouldn’t have any ties to the previous films and will mainly center around the Necronomicon.

“Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable,” reads the film’s synopsis.

The film is written and directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole In The Ground), who was handpicked by franchise creator Sam Raimi, as well as Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert. It is executive produced by Raimi, Campbell, Tapert, Romel Adam, John Keville, and Macdara Kelleher.
