The 355 Trailer: Five Badass Spies Must Work Together or Die Alone

Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer Simon Kinberg’s upcoming global action film The 355, featuring an all-star female-led cast including Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, and Oscar winners Lupita Nyong’o & Penélope Cruz. Initially scheduled for a 2021 release, the film was delayed for a full year due to the ongoing pandemic. It is currently slated to arrive in theaters on January 7, 2022.

The 355 trailer, which you can check out below, brings together five international spies who must work together to stop an impending cyber attack from potentially starting World War III. The video also highlights some of the film’s many action-packed sequences.

The 355 is directed by Simon Kinberg from a script written by Theresa Kinberg. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Bingbing Fan.  It will also feature MCU star Sebastian Stan and Golden Globe nominee Edgar Ramírez.

“A dream team of formidable female stars come together in a hard-driving original approach to the globe-trotting espionage genre in The 355,” reads the synopsis. “When a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown will need to join forces with rival badass German agent Marie, former MI6 ally and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah, and skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it, while also staying one step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng, who is tracking their every move. As the action rockets around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth and glamour of Shanghai, the quartet of women will forge a tenuous loyalty that could protect the world—or get them killed.”

The title, 355, comes from one of the very first spies in the United States during the American Revolution, who was also a woman, so Agent 355 has become slang for those in the CIA for a female spy, which Chastain learned while doing her research for 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty.
