Encanto Trailer Previews Disney Fantasy Film Starring Stephanie Beatriz

Walt Disney Animation Studios has finally dropped the official Encanto trailer for the upcoming comedy fantasy adventure film, featuring the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, Diane Guerrero, and Wilmer Valderrama. The film is currently slated for an exclusive 30-day theatrical run, starting on November 24, just in time for this year’s Thanksgiving.

The video, which you can check out below along with the new poster, features the magical Madrigal family whose each member was gifted with exceptional powers, made possible when their home came to life through magic. It also teases how their house’s magic is mysteriously fading away along with their own abilities. Now, it’s up to the family’s only non-magic wielding member, Mirabel to find a way to protect her family and their home, Casita.

Disney’s Encanto will feature a voice cast led by Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, In the Heights) as Mirabel, an ordinary 15-year-old who’s struggling to find her place in her family. Joining her are María Cecilia Botero as Abuela, Wilmer Valderrama as Agustin, Adassa as Dolores, Diane Guerrero as Isabela, Mauro Castillo as Felix, Angie Cepeda as Julieta, Jessica Darrow as Luisa, Rhenzy Feliz as Camilo, Carolina Gaitan as Pepa, and Ravi Cabot-Conyers as Antonio.

“It tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto,” reads the synopsis. “In the film, the magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.”

Encanto is directed by Zootopia helmers Byron Howard and Jared Bush from a screenplay co-written by Bush with co-director Charise Castro Smith. The filmmakers were deeply inspired by their research trip to Colombia during early development of Encanto, as well as their continuous work with a group of expert consultants assembled through the course of the film’s production.

The film will feature all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana) including an original song titled “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” performed by Latin Grammy winner Carlos Vives. It is produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino.
